Café Vito is a well-known hang-out in the Villeray neighbourhood. The tiny café has been around for a few years and most clients are locals. Vito, the owner, will know you personally if you visit his café on a regular basis. His service is friendly and straight forward. In addition to coffee, they sell juices, pastries, panini and the renowned Saint-Viateur bagels (you cannot visit Montreal without having some of the world’s best bagels).
The café itself is a great spot to spend some time. Café Vito is connected with next door’s laundrette, so you can launch the washing machine before you enjoy your coffee and croissant while reading one of the newspapers lying around.
It often gets a little busy inside, but clients don’t bother to gather in front of the café: a wooden bench invites customers to enjoy fresh air and neighbourhood life. You can also get your coffee through the little window on the side if you prefer to be outside.
