Cinéma du Parc is a spot where any film fan should go to. Together with Cinéma Beaubien, it’s the last independent art house movie theatre in town. I like their programming and they always screen the original version with either French or English subtitles. Whether you are waiting to see the films awarded at Cannes or the Academy Awards or you’re more into an indie documentary or a 35mm film, chances are that you will find something that fits your taste right here.
Located in a small shopping centre, the theatre is not necessarily beautiful, but has a lot of charm and just three screening rooms. The screening rooms are pretty old school: large rectangular rooms with seating in the middle and a screen hanging high up the wall so you can nestle yourself in your seat and look up over the heads at the screen. It can get very crowded because the theatre often works together with festivals to screen films, so it is anything but dull. Definitely an asset is the cheap popcorn: somewhere around $ 3. Note that Tuesdays mean discounts and cheap movie nights.
