I have always liked Mexican food but it wasn’t until the last few years that I have been able to really experience good Mexican cuisine in Montreal. Several good restaurants have opened and Emiliano’s is as good as it comes.
Situated in the beautiful Old Montreal neighbourhood, just a few blocks from Notre-Dame Cathedral, this restaurant opened in 2016 offering authentic Mexican fine cuisine. The atmosphere is hopping with great music, high tables and a nice bar with an extensive choice of wines, cocktails and tequila of course!
The spicy crab guacamole with homemade tortilla chips is a must to start off the meal. Part of the menu is described as “street food” offering tacos, tamales and quesedillas. My favorite is the Del Muelle fish taco with avocado, jalapeno, cilantro mayo and roasted cipollini… the best fish tacos I’ve ever had. The enchiladas menu is varied with Mole chicken, lobster chorizo stuffed banana pepper and enmoladas de carnitas.
At the end of the meal, Emiliano’s has a short but worthy dessert menu and I couldn’t leave without trying the Tres Leches cake… and you shouldn’t either! It was a great end to a fabulous supper. If you like Mexican, then don’t miss the chance to try this picturesque Old Montreal spot.
