I used to live at a few minutes walk from Le Jockey, a great bar in the Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie borough. Whether you come here for a beer with a friend, a great night out or one of their comedy shows, you should also consider trying one of their cocktails as they are probably among the best in this part of town. The waiters and barmen gladly help you out with choosing and happily customize a drink for you. This bar is unpretentious and feels like your living room, although the music probably plays louder on Saturday nights.
At midnight, if you’re lucky, the barmen give a little show and literally play with fire. It’s one of the hidden acts of the hood. Also, if you would like to discover some local francophone stand-up comedians, make sure you meet up at their weekly comedy night on Mondays. If that’s not of interest to you, then don’t come too early on Mondays. And one last thing: beer is cheaper when Le Canadien aka the Habs, the Montreal hockey team, plays.
