Summers in Montreal mean festivals, fireworks, terrasses and ice cream of course! Les Givrés ice cream bar is located in the lovely Villeray neighborhood of Montreal (a block away from the Café Larue & Fils). It is mostly a residential area therefore you’ll find the locals lining up in the summer to savor this divine homemade ice cream.
Open all year long, they make all their products from scratch including the waffle cones. They serve not only ice cream, hard or soft, but also sorbets made with seasonal local farmer’s fruits such as rhubarb, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries from Hatley, apple, melon, passion fruit, and more. Les Givrés does satisfy exotic tastes by putting familiar ingredients into unexpected context with flavors such as maple syrup butter, bagel cheese cream, butternut squash, matcha Suisen Japanese green tea, corn, caramel apple pie and many more interesting flavors. My favorite is the coconut along with the classic chocolate – a great pairing and not too sweet. Their products do not contain any artificial flavors or coloring.
They also sell delicious ice cream cakes, eskimo bars, ice cream sandwiches, and frappes made with either milk, sorbet or ice cream. And just in case you get cravings later on, they sell also their ice creams in boxes!
It’s a great place to enjoy amazing ice cream and sit outside or walk around the lovely area. Not to be missed!
Note that there is a second location at 2730 Masson Street.
