This is the best discovery my friend and I have ever made. Once it opened its doors for us on New Year’s Eve when we started to freeze up enjoying New Year’s all around Moscow center. To us, Varenichnaya №1 seemed like a very homey place from our past. That time there wasn’t a queue for a table, but in case you have to wait, do not hesitate – it’s worth wasting a dozen minutes.
Affordable prices, a familiar Soviet interior with the not-be-missed attributes of that standard composition. Carpets on the walls, Russian songs from Soviet epoch, drinks in table-glasses, Morskoy Boy (Sea Battle) game on tables, etc.
In this extremely cozy place I used to order delicious dumplings stuffed with cabbage and mushrooms with sour-cream. My friend loves dumplings with cherries. Mmmm…
There are numerous Russian dishes on the two-page menu: pirozhki, chebureki, potato flapjacks, Russian ravioli, roast meat in a pot; Russian drinks as well (try a different alcohol like nastoika on berries!).
Breakfast menu is available from 10:00 to 12:00. Check their special offers as well!
