Probably the most famous and popular of all the English cinemas in Munich, I just recently discovered Cinema Filmtheater myself. There is only one hall, but quite a big one, especially compared to the other options you have when you want to see an original version in Munich. Every time I was there, the hall was packed with people, so especially on weekends and for sneak previews I recommend to reserve or buy the tickets in advance, online or by phone. Before and after the movies you will find a huge crowd of international people in the foyer and out on the street, beer or popcorn in their hand, discussing the movie.
Especially fun are the sneak previews every Friday night at 23:15 when, for a few hours, the audience puts their fate in the hands of Cinema Filmtheater. The fun short movies they show before the actual screening, the intense atmosphere in the hall until you know which movie will be shown this time, and the passionate discussions you can listen to or join afterwards, about the amazing movie / complete rubbish you just watched (at least) six days before the rest of Germany will, are the reason I keep coming back to sneak preview nights at Cinema. So far I’m very happy with their selection of sneak preview movies. Except “Malavita – The Family”. That was horrible.
The other thing I like about this place is their open mindedness about the age old question ‘Popcorn, sweet or salty’? They offer both.
