Some people call Munich the most northern city of Italy. Great Italian restaurants like Il Mulino might have something to do with that.
I’ve known Il Mulino since my student days when I lived around the corner and always ordered my pizza to take away. If you do it like this you get great restaurant quality pizza for an unbeatable € 5.90 and can eat it in the nearby park.
Or you do it the grown-up way and actually enter the restaurant which I only did after moving to another area. One step at a time, I thought and ordered my favourite from my take-away-days: Pizza Rucola with fresh rucola and parmesan. They have a lot more to offer than pizza and pasta, and everyone at my table was happy with their fish and meat dishes. We shared some desserts and I can really highly recommend the Tiramisu. The choice in wine and Grappas is also as extensive as it is good.
The interior is very elegant and everything is very Italian. This includes that not all waiters are equally friendly, but most of them are.
If you come in the summer try to get a table on their beautiful terrace, but be aware: Il Mulino is so good that it’s always crowded. So make a reservation before or spend some time at the bar while you wait for a table.
Or you could always just get a pizza to take away.
