From the end of May until early September, the so-called “Seebühne” (stage by the river) in Westpark turns into a cinema for the outdoor cinema festival Kino, Mond & Sterne. There, you can watch classics and blockbusters outside, right in the middle of nature. Take your own blanket and cushions to make it as comfy as possible and bring snacks and drinks – as long as nothing is packed in fragiles – or borrow and buy your supplies on the spot. As I live close-by and can cycle to the venue in like 5 minutes, Kino, Mond & Sterne is my favorite Munich outdoor cinema, and every year I have a long list of films I want to watch – especially because there are usually a lot of movies shown that have already been in theatres but I’ve missed!
A lot of the movies are international blockbusters, some are independent films and some are documentaries or movie festivals themselves like the European Outdoor Film Tour. Most of them are shown in German, but there are also films screened in Original Voice (with German subtitles).
You can check out the programme and all the movies on the website.
