Königin 43 is a perfect place to recharge your energy after or before strolling through Englischer Garten. It’s generally full of people, live and energetic and invites you to take a seat on the comfy couches to relax, eat, drink, chat or read a book. In summer you can sit outside on the terrace and spend the whole day enjoying the sun. So far all the food I’ve tried there – breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks – was very enjoyable.
The furniture is as diverse as the visitors. Students, seniors, tourists, cyclists and other drop-ins from the nearby Englischer Garten are enjoying their cakes and snacks (ciabatta, wraps, bagels), their coffee and freshly squeezed juices (very recommendable), or some long drinks and beers, in the midst of antique furniture, old school desks and garden chairs. My favourite item is the chandelier made from Campari bottles.
Since the end of 2011 Königin 43 is the newest member of the “Barer family”. While the rest of them are all in Barerstraße, this one is in Königinstraße between the university and the Englischer Garten. The other family members Barer 61 (café/bar), Gegenüber (café/bar) and Barer 47 (student bar) are also worth a visit.
