I cannot imagine a city without water, like a river, sea or public pools. Especially during the hot season. In Munich I prefer to go to the river Isar or Maria Einsiedel. The last one is a mixture between a public bath and a body of natural water. The pools are filled with filtered water from the river Isar. 100% chlorine-free. It’s healthy, good for the skin and very refreshing.
On Sundays I have breakfast with friends at Maria Einsiedel. We pack our basket with foods and beverages, a blanket, dishes and cutlery, to spread it on the lawn to have an expanded brunch. After finishing breakfast, we relax in the sun or in the shadows of the big trees. And in case it’s getting too hot, we take a bath in the small, fast flowing river which runs through the area. But be careful, it’s very cold, but fun.
You can get there by Metro (U3 Thalkirchen) and it’s a 300m walk next to Munich’s Zoo Hellabrunn.
My conclusion: take a floating tyre and float on the river.
