I need to make this clear: although I appreciate vegetarian cuisine, I am not a vegetarian myself (let alone vegan). On top of this, I enjoy eating döner – with meat. Nevertheless, the first time I came across this Döner place I was very intrigued by the idea of a meat-free döner… And so I gave it a try!
The restaurant is literally hidden under the Munich main train station and it may not look so attractive from the outside, still the food and the interior decoration will reward you! The restaurant is painted in nice happy colours, with a cosy sofa, wooden tables and photos/paintings on the walls. The service is very nice and warm and the atmosphere is easygoing and friendly. Difficult not to feel at home here.
Although the döner looks like any other döner you’ve tried so far, the meat has been replaced by Seitan (wheat gluten – read more information on the restaurant’s website) and it tastes simply great, while the final touch give the fresh vegetables and the wonderful homemade sauce (you can choose out of three different sauces: my favourite is the “Yellow Sun” – with mustard, ginger and kurkuma).
Hint 1: Except for the döner, leave some space for the delicious turkish pies/desserts, the variety is big and there for you to discover.
Hint 2: Don’t leave without drinking the traditional turkish tea served hot in the cute small turkish cups!
