Before the days of Ruff’s there used to be a pushcart called “Eat the Street” selling burgers so good they had to settle down. Even as a takeaway place they couldn’t handle all the demand and opened a restaurant next to it, where you can sit all day and get served after 17:00. When the weather is nice you can also sit outside on the beergarden chairs and enjoy their burgers (they also opened small shops at Rindermarkt and Türkenstraße).
They get their beef from a small butchery in Bavaria and let you watch them prepare it for you in their open kitchen. The bread is also house made and you can definitely taste the extra effort.
The crowd’s favourites are the “Giggly Burger” and the house specialty “Ruff’s Burger”. You can also choose the, sometimes quite creative, burger of the day (e.g. avocado, pastrami or other shenanigans). It’s not even a big risk, because they know what they do. Even their veggie burger is great!
Some say, even better than the burgers are their Belgian fries. Add € 3.30 to get the menu and choose one of their house made sauces (I recommend the “burger sauce”) and a drink.
The food is great, the service is friendly and you seldom wait very long. If you don’t want to wait at all, call beforehand, or even better, use the smartphone app Open Tabs, pay with credit card and just come to pick it up.
Burgers so good, even my American co-worker loves them.
