Since the times Louis van Gaal reigned at FC Bayern, Vereinsheim is our go-to place for watching Champions League matches. In that season we watched Arjen Robben score two of his most important and most beautiful goals against Fiorentina and ManUnited; and Vereinsheim’s never let us down since. Our celebrations of the penalty shootout win over Real Madrid in 2012, the earliest Bundesliga championship in 2014 and other remarkable victories even made it to national television. Unfortunately I have to admit, the final and semi final losses in the last few years are our fault: we weren’t there, we let our team down. This season we get another chance.
My personal superstitions aside, Vereinsheim is a great place to watch football, drink a beer or to enjoy cabaret shows and local musicians. The newest addition is an “audio-visual pub quiz”, a great way to finally put all your useless knowledge to the test. There’s a lot of guessing songs or movies, but for some questions you need to know a little bit German or have a German team member. You’ll always find smaller groups happy to join a bigger team.
The place is decorated very nicely with a lot of football memorabilia like trophies and pictures of the German World Cup champions of 1974. Vereinsheim offers nice pub food like burgers, toast and currywurst (first two also vegetarian) and the staff is very nice and relaxed.
Check their website and Facebook for football broadcasts, events and pub quizzes.
