If you are visiting Munich, you definitely have to leave time in your schedule to go to a classical Bavarian “Kneipe” (this is the German word for tavern).
Of course you can go to Marienplatz and visit one of the traditional touristic places or go to the Hoffbräuhaus, but if you are feeling more adventurous, follow me to the beautiful neighbourhood of the Au and visit a place that the locals like to go to.
The restaurant offers tasty traditional Bavarian food and has a nice small garden where you can sit outside. It is a very quiet area and you can enjoy the sound of the nearby small river.
The name of the tavern comes from the “Auer Mühlbach”, which is a small Isar canal, running through Munich. This is a perfect addition to a nice dinner – just take a walk afterwards and enjoy the fresh air during a summer night.
The restaurant used to be operated under a different name, but as part of rebranding they have changed the name. Still – definitely worth a visit.
Please note – warm food is server only until 22:00. Please note – it is a very loud place, so do not go there for romantic dinners with long talks 🙂
