The Brooklyn Bridge Park stretches for 1.3 miles along the East River shoreline and has one of the best views of the Manhattan skyline. The hub of the park is located right underneath the Brooklyn Bridge and is a great place to spend an afternoon. It is right below the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn which is filled with great places to eat and shop. The park has multiple piers, some just offer a great place to sit and relax, others have basketball and handball courts for the local kids. There is even an option to go kayaking!
My favorite thing about this park is the amount of public art they have on display every year in partnership with Public Art Fund. This past season they had a piece by Anish Kapoor titled Descension. He created a massive whirlpool that felt as though the water was spiraling into the depths of the earth and would pull you in with it. Unfortunately it is now closed, but we are looking forward to see which artist they choose next!
Even into the Fall the park often has great outdoor events such as music, sports games, group runs on Tuesday nights and much more. Check out their calendar to see whats going on this month!
