The Brooklyn Bridge Park stretches for 1.3 miles along the East River shoreline and has one of the best views of the Manhattan skyline. The hub of the park is located right underneath the Brooklyn Bridge and is a great place to spend an afternoon. It is right below the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn which is filled with great places to eat and shop. The park has multiple piers, some just offer a great place to sit and relax, others have basketball and handball courts for the local kids. There is even an option to go kayaking!
My favorite thing about this park is the amount of public art they have on display every year in partnership with Public Art Fund. This season a new piece has just been installed by Anish Kapoor titled Descension. He has created a massive whirlpool that feels as though the water is spiraling into the depths of the earth. It feels a bit ominous considering the state of the world these days, but is definitely worth checking out.
Over the summer the park often has great outdoor events such as movies on the lawn, music, and much more. Check out their calendar to see whats going on this month!
