The abundance of juice bars and vegan restaurants in New York makes the city a paradise for those living a healthy lifestyle. Juicy Lucy, a Cuban-themed juice bar, is a great place for those seeking an energizing breakfast or a fruit-filled midday pick me up without breaking the bank.
There’s an extensive menu of fresh-pressed juices and lusciously thick smoothies along with coffee, tea, soup, and a few sweet treats. They even sell young Thai coconuts ready to be enjoyed through a straw! One of my favorite meals is the tropical bowl – açaí berry blended with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and apple juice topped with granola, sliced banana, bee pollen, and coconut. Delicious and filling.
The shop is quite compact and can only fit about four people at a time, however it is bursting with spirit and energy. The walls are adorned with Cuban memorabilia and the speakers are playing rhythmic sounds of Cuba, which makes waiting for your order all the more enjoyable.
If the shop is packed and you don’t feel like waiting, head down to the corner of 1st Ave & 1st Street to Juicy Lucy’s second location.
