Lunch time in Times Square can pose a problem for locals. With so many tourists and bland chain restaurants everywhere you look, where can you find a good meal at a good price? But don’t stress out too much, because I have a go-to spot that never fails.

Whether I’m looking for a quick breakfast sandwich or an authentic Cuban lunch, Margon is the place that always seems to rise to the top of my list. Located right off the main drag of the “Crossroads of the World”, this unassuming diner is one of my refuges in this always busy part of the city. Take a look at the daily specials and then place your order at the counter. I love the Cubano Sandwich filled with roast pork, ham AND salami as well as oxtail stew, ribs, and the whole fried fish. All of the specials come with a huge plate of yellow rice, beans and plantains, and none of them cost more than $ 10.

If I go for a late lunch, then I might just have time to stick around for a Cuban coffee and some flan. Afterwards, you can keep the fun going and grab a beer at Jimmy’s Corner (Check the Jimmy’s Corner article), my other Times Square favorite, just around the corner a couple of blocks away.
