So after coming back from Greece I immediately knew I had to wander around my hometown to see what’s new on the streets that I love. While walking up and down the main avenues my friends and I stumbled upon this place. We were immediately drawn to its neon sign, its minimalistic but inviting interior, and the great rock music playing over their speakers.
After we sat down and chatted with the waitress I discovered that Mom’s has been open since late June; and that the owner runs three other restaurants with varying ambiances in Astoria alone, plus four in Manhattan. Something I’ve definitely started noticing about my neighbourhood: it’s becoming a hub for entrepreneurship.
Mom’s menu displays the creative concoctions that restaurants, especially new ones, lately have been offering to stand out from their competition. Items that may draw you in are the weird pancake items: one dish has Fruity Pebbles, another mac & cheese. Or maybe you’re the person who likes an all-day brunch menu. If so, this is the place for you.
I personally recommend getting the house burger and adding mushrooms. It’s easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a number of burgers in my life, believe me). Come for the food, stay for the music, and if you see me don’t be afraid to say hi!
