After a long day at work sometimes you just want to zone out for an hour or two with a couple of buddies, have a bite, and play a few rounds of billiards.
Steinway Cafe & Billiards is old. It’s been around for as long as I can remember, and there are those who know that it’s been around longer still. It’s a staple in the neighbourhood, and no local wants to see it change. It’s a huge pool hall, with more tables than I can care to count, high ceilings and televisions abound. There are also those who take part in chess tournaments in the front of the establishment if that’s more your style.
Really though this cafe on Steinway is a stress-free zone whenever I go. Everyone’s focused on their respective billiard game, casually chatting and laughing as they play. In a city full of bustling people, and a life filled with deadlines to meet, this pool hall is an oasis of relaxation.
