This 1920s warehouse was converted into a live performance venue in 2008 and is now a cultural hub for the Gownaus neighborhood in Brooklyn. I have been to The Bell House for several different types of shows, a live podcast taping, multiple concerts, and a ’90s-themed dance party! They have a great line up of creative and diverse shows, highlighting many local talents alongside very big names.
In the front room you can find a bar, with food, that opens 2 hours before every show. I often get there early just to sit and relax in the comfy couches before going into the show. If you are looking for suggestions on what to see, they often host great story telling shows such as The Moth, RISK!, and Two Dope Queens. They also have stand-up comedy from comedians such as Mike Birbiglia and Maria Bamford.
One note, remember to bring your ID to all shows because you have to be 21 to get in and they do check it at the door!
