When some of Oslo’s best bartenders get together to open a bar, you know it will be great. But then it turns out to be actually even better than what you’d imagined. Now, how sweet is that?!
Abelone is the first of a few rumored openings in Brugata, setting off a (much welcome, at least for me) gentrification of a street that quite frankly has seen better days – and deserves to do so again. I can’t wait to see this part of the city develop during the next few months, and it’s beyond awesome that people are taking a chance on this run-down part of town.
At Abelone you are greeted with awesome coffee and wi-fi during the day, and kick-ass drinks and toasties when cocktail hour comes lurking. There are some lovely wines to choose from as well, including a surprising (and personal favourite) from Greece.
But it’s not just the menu that’s top notch at Abelone: the soft hues of the interior also deserve special mention, especially since pretty much everything is handmade by the 10 hands of the Abelone team. Over 300 paper lamps cover the ceiling, creating a calming vibe. And when you also have superb music rolling out the speakers, a sunny outdoor patio and the best frozen cocktails in town, there’s no wonder I keep coming back to this newly opened gem.
