Bar Robinet is a well-known little bar with many years of success serving up a wide range of creative drinks to a niche crowd. It’s a tiny bar located in a spot that can hardly be called a thoroughfare. You probably won’t find Bar Robinet unless you’re looking for it.
Robinet is different every single time I visit as it is so small and intimate that the atmosphere is more a factor of the groups of people in the house than of the bar itself. On any given evening you might find yourself amongst bespectacled intellectuals, shallow party-goers, groups of teachers, artists and actors or midget fetishists. Who knows? But the cramped quarters will do their best to make sure you end up making new acquaintances.
I visited with two of my own friends and we quickly found ourselves in an enjoyable conversation with two teachers. The music was pleasant, the light from the lamps above bathed us in warm, ruddy light. Adding to the ambient air was the “drink of the day”, a nice-price Aquavit Sour which I nursed while enjoying our chat.
Come early if you’re preoccupied with securing your own table or show up later and delve into the flock and mingle. Robinet shares the same charm as Bar Boca in that it gets people to socialize together.
