It’s been a while since I’ve been hunting for a place in Oslo that actually offers Mexican food which might resemble what I had the chance to experience in the Southern parts of the US. I am mainly missing the various types of beans and I am very annoyed by the fact that all places are drowning most of the food in coriander.
Some friends invited me to try El Camino once and I was a bit skeptical as their menu and concept, described on the website, seemed a bit odd. And limited. But then again, limited choice might mean high quality and this was exactly the case. It is a fast food concept, but then you have the guarantee of each ingredient being quite tasty and well prepared. You build your own meal, starting by picking the ‘coating’ – burrito, tacos or none. Then salads, meats and dressings and there you go. They also serve some blue corn, freshly made chips and all their dips are very very tasty. The choice of drinks is limited, but keep in mind it is more of a fast food place than a restaurant. Yet, it surely beats the restaurant taste.
Give it a try, but don’t organize a fancy party here. The place is focused on tasty food, not on posh looks.
