Whenever I pass by Alexander Kiellands plass area in Oslo, I like to stop by at the House of Sushi on the corner, place my order and sit inside and wait. It’s never boring. The place is decorated with all sorts of big and small toys/dolls/gadgets that you’re almost able to discover a new one each time you look. It also has a nice choice of magazines and comic books to read while you wait, plus the music they play (at least when I happen to pass by) is usually a nice blend of rock and roll. All this make it the perfect waiting place.
The food is also something worth mentioning, since it’s really tasty and prepared pretty quickly, unless you happen to be there during the rush hours (dinner time). I’ve seen so many people entering and fetching their take away orders in half an hour, that I am pretty sure the place is rather popular – and I can see why each time I taste their makis or their local specialty (called Kiellands Spesialmaki). The place also offers catering.
There is a second House of Sushi in Oslo, located at Majorstuen but I’ve personally never gone to that one, so please note that all my impressions in this article are based on the one located at Kiellands plass.
