Some types of cuisine that in other big cities can be found at each corner, might be hard to locate in Oslo. But it’s not the case with Indian food, especially in the central areas. Namaste India is a new place of this kind, opened among the other nice places in Teaterplasen mentioned by my fellow spotters (check the Evita and Mekaniske Verksted articles).
I personally enjoy Indian food, so I try to check out various places for comparison in prices and quality. This one was a nice surprise, as I tasted some really good garlic chicken and pepper chicken with a delicious sauce. We got also lucky with the weather so stayed outside while eating, which makes the meal more enjoyable since there’s always kids playing or people roasting under the sun in the Teatersquare when the weather allows.
Price-wise, it’s quite decent, being normal for a restaurant in Oslo. And they serve dishes in heated plates or bring some fancy pots that are heated with a candle while you eat. The rice was different from the ones I tried before. It had some curry or other spices on it and it’s not just plain white rice. But yummy nevertheless.
As bonus, they have live jazz music on Saturdays which adds special spices to the Indian dishes.
