Rockefeller Music Hall – Great live venue

I truly love the live music scene in Oslo. Firstly, while Oslo’s a little way from the continental European touring route, it’s a big enough city to attract some stellar artists. Secondly, because Oslo’s a little way from the continental European touring route, the crowds are super appreciative of every international act that comes to play. Thirdly, Scandinavian gig crowds are a little more reserved than I’ve experienced elsewhere (at least until the first few beers kick in), meaning you can usually get a good spot close to the stage without copping an errant elbow to the head.

All of these factors add up to some seriously good concert vibes, and Rockefeller is one of the best venues in town to catch a gig. With a capacity of just over 1,300 it’s large enough to attract the big names, small enough to feel intimate, and well enough laid out so you can usually actually see, as well as hear the band. I’ve seen Haim (pictured), The Naked and Famous, Foals, Asgeir and Highasakite here to name a few, and every gig has been fantastic.

Keep an eye on their website for upcoming shows – as well as music, you can catch comedy and literature events too.
