Located between the tourist traps of Karl Johan street and the courthouse is a bar that will make most beer lovers well up with happiness. Røør has 60 beers on tap, listed on a giant blackboard behind the bar and most are available in 200ml glasses so you can taste many over the course of an evening.
It opened during summer 2017 so the décor is modern hipster, with a large bar taking up the main wall downstairs and a smaller bar upstairs. For those of us that aren’t so keen on beer there are a few wines to choose from plus ciders and non-alcoholic options. But I would recommend asking the staff for suggestions, you might just find yourself surprised by how different beers can be. They also have jugs of water available for self service, which I think is a nice touch and something other places in Oslo could do well to copy.
The real advantage of Røør is that its somewhere you can go for drinks after work and sit and chat and then gradually over the course of the evening the pace picks up, DJs start to spin and before you know it its heaving. For lazy people like me it’s a perfect combination.
