Like a lot of people, I really enjoy going to the Montmartre and Abbesses area, best area for a Sunday stroll!
But when I go there I do not choose the easy path, stopping at the Anvers subway station. I’d rather arrive through the rue de clignancourt by foot (or by the rue Lamarck if I come from farther up north). It allows me to arrive by a nicer way, which is way less crowded! I then have the chance to enjoy the streets and numerous stairs, making me feel like I’m going back in time.
If you do choose to arrive by subway, and go down at the Anvers Station, try to discover the area by taking the Rue des Martyrs (when exiting the station go straight and pass some concert venues like the mythic La Cigale) up to Montmartre and then avoid the crowded street closer to the subway station exit.
Between there and Montmartre I can stop by Halle Saint Pierre (check the Halle Saint Pierre article) where there is always an art exhibition and continue my walk to the saint Pierre market or at Reine to go and look at all the tissues! So many of them, all kinds of fabrics and colors… Feels like Zola’s “au bonheur des dames”!
A few months ago a “zero waste home” opened in the area, you can go check it, they have some articles they send and workshops.
