Spring has finally arrived in Paris! It’s warm and sunny and even the grumpiest Parisiens break out a gruff smile or two when the sun is in the sky.
I recommend making the most of the pleasant mood with a classic Paris outing, a picnic by the Seine. I know it might seem a cliché but it’d take a cold heart not to fall for the charm of the spectacular views from the riverbank as the evening sun sets over the city. You don’t need much; stock up on some delicious, smelly cheese and fresh fruit at the market at Place Monge, (you can easily pick up some wine and bread around these streets too), then take a short stroll through the picturesque Latin Quarter before dropping down to the riverside just by St Michel. Whether you wander east or west you’ll find plenty to see and lots of magical picnic spots. However if you’re stuck here are a couple of my favourites,
Île Saint Louis – sit at the tip of this pretty island in the middle of the Seine and wave to the boats sailing by. A very romantic spot.
Berges de Seine - From Musée D’Orsay west the banks of the river have had a facelift, this is Paris’s answer to London’s Southbank. Trendy, urban, edgy, the Berges only recently opened but have already become this Summer’s hot spot. Don’t miss cool pop-up bar ‘En Attendant Rosa’.
