For a long time I hesitated about mentioning this tiny Chinese canteen on this site, as it is so local and tiny that you may not see the point. But then again I came to know about it through a friend that does not live in the area at all, so that kind of confirms its appeal to a wider reach within Paris. And so who knows to foreign visitors, too.
Chez Van is basically two lines of tables in a very narrow space, where noodles are served “à volonté”: as much as you want. Usually I am not too fussed about the all you can eat concept, because I feel its mostly big hungry men that benefit of it the most. But here it is worth the effort to save up appetite because the noodles are particularly good and I always end up asking for extras.
The “à volonté” menu offers different kinds of raviolis as a starter and a noodle meal (soup or dry) as a main course. The noodles are rather thick and a bit greasy, so do not come for a light meal. Also the choice is not that big, which I personally prefer because at least it seems really fresh. But for the price of 10€ at lunchtime and 12€ it is hard to find a better deal anywhere in Paris. Only don’t go if you don’t care about noodles!
