We enjoyed mint tea at the rooftop cafe … and the splendid views of the city. Very peaceful sitting amongst the olive trees above the hubbub of the city.

Waiters are awful, we have been told to leave our table 15 minutes after finishing our drinks…and as we didn’t left quickly we have been insulted! Unbelievable!

Indeed, in Paris, sometimes you get disappointed with the food served in restaurant. So maybe it was a bad day when you went to “Le Temps des Cerises”. Netherless, I have been going to this restaurant since 15 or 20 years, and each time, I find it very amusing, and honestly quite good. I remembered having the best veal stew in that restaurant, and last I went there, the meat was really enjoyable.

I completely agree with you abour “Chez Gladine”, which is a very good and funny restaurant. In the same vein, you can try “Chez Papa”, in the14th district, 15th district or in La Madeleine if you want to enjoy the famous “Boyarde” Salad.

I’m not really fond of this restaurant. I have been once for a menu.
The starter was really good, a “pâté” directly from the producer. But then, things went wrong. The main menu was very common, not worth the price, and the dessert, the “clafoutis” was awfull (it just tastes as mine when I fail to cook it properly – I would be ashame to propose it to friend – seriously, in a restaurant???).
So, if I should find a restaurant in the area, I would go to Gladine instead.
Anyway, as our experience are very different, maybe dishes are very inequal…

John, I’m sorry to hear you didn’t like the area. I agree, the top end of the canal is not so interesting but I find as you get further down, towards Republique, it’s much more fun and there are lots of interesting little shops, quirky bars and restaurants.
