As we wait for the winter to loosen its grip over our city, maybe you can’t find a spot on a packed heated cafe terrace, you can begin to feel pretty cramped.
Ground Control used to be an annual, fleeting street food/bar/music venue that took over an empty space in the city during the summer. Last year’s spot was previously a post-sorting office on rue de Charolais just by Gare de Lyon, and they’ve decided to open this one back up!
Kid-friendly during the day and buzzing in the evening – it truly was “the place to be” in the summer but it seems to have calmed down a bit now, and I like it even more…
If you’re lucky enough to be there on a mild winter day, perch around a table with your friends and soak up the atmosphere – enjoy the galettes, the variety of street food, from Chinese, Mexican to Argentinian, and pick up a pint or an warming glass of red to natter over. Surrounded by olive trees, water features and pop-up stands, you’ll soon forget you’re in the centre of Paris, and be able to unwind after a long week.
P.S. Look up the programme on the site and catch a concert or a crafty atelier in the indoor space!
