Paris is a very dog-friendly city and although I’m not a dog owner I just love passing by the dog parks on my bike. It’s almost impossible (given I’m not in a massive rush) for me not to stop and watch for a while the curious dogs as they go crazy for each other in full abandonment, flopping about in these dedicated dog-parks, while their owners watch on.
The owners are always on hand, but regardless the dogs just go it alone. They hop and skip, knocking one another around. Simply watching these packs of mutts, mongrels and thoroughbreds playing and bounding about the place is worth taking 10 minutes.
One of the better locations you can see the dogs (and maybe check out their owners) is from a vantage point along Quai Valmy. It’s located a short walk from the famous Paris music venue Point Ephemere, and the best time is just before dusk, the time that the owners have finished work and have time dedicated to bring their adorable hairy friends out to play.
If you love people watching then you’re going to be beside yourself by seeing these four-legged friends as they at this dog walking spot, just one of the many dotted about Paris.
