Reuan Thai – More than just Pad Thai

Catching up with a friend over an impromptu dinner is always fun. We are so spoilt for choice in Paris, with fantastic restaurants of cuisines from the world over… and last night I chose Thai. The Belleville area is my go-to place when I have a craving for Chinese or Thai food, and this one is just on the 11th arrondissement side of the boulevard de Belleville.

Although I still love my green, yellow and red curries and Pad Thai, since I went to a fantastic Thai street food joint in London, I’d been obsessing over their whole deep fried sea bass and fresh salads…

Let the warm air and delicious smell of spices envelop you as you enter the rather cosy and homely interior. I like to start the meal with a beer while I lose myself in the menu – everything looks delicious, I wish my stomach didn’t have to limit my appetite!

I start by fighting off the persistent sniffle with a Tom Yum soup (this one has an almighty kick!) and move onto a deep fried sea bass with salad and a green mango sauce. The ingredients here are fresh, spices aplenty and the prices ever so slightly above the Belleville norm but definitely worth it.

Personally, apart from the food, I like to go back there because the staff are extremely friendly, speedy and you are not going to be shooed out of your seats at any time.
