TEP Duperré – The multicoloured playground

I didn’t grow up in a city. What I would so was cycle around the neighbourhood with my friends, go exploring in the nearby woods and play in the garden, so I often wonder where children go to play in a city like Paris. Then I gradually started spotting the various parks and table tennis courts dotted around the city…

Still, my most colourful and artistic discovery to date has to be the TEP Duperré, just by the metro station Pigalle. This compact basketball court may look like some neatly-executed street art to passersby, but it is a free playground for both children and adults.

The ground has been laid with recycled rubber and the backboards are made of plexiglass. The founder is a huge fan of basketball and organises a tournament every year, as well as a yearly repainting of the court in collaboration with the designers, Ill Studio.
