The area around ‘Les Grands Magazins’ is always full of tourists shopping anything from Chanel and Dior to H&M goodies (and cheaper versions of French brands sold on the streets). For that reason I would not expect to find a rooftop terrace here that is actually rather laid back and spacious and seems far from the tourist crowds.
Perhaps it’s because of its rather hidden location: you have to know how to climb up the escalators up to the 9th floor (not as easy as it sounds) of the Home & Beauty warehouse of Printemps. It took me a while to find it, and I was rather motivated because a friend of mine had told me it was really nice.
But once on the roof I was astonished by the beautiful 360° view of this terrace. Placed just next to the Opéra Garnier, it allows you to look at these baroque rooftops in detail. If you look up north, the Sacré Coeur seems close. Looking opposite, you can see the Eiffel Tower, tour Montparnasse… well all the landmarks really!
A bonus is that the terrace belongs to a cantine sans prétention called ‘Deli-cieux’. It is nothing special, which means the prices are normal too. Consumption is required to access the terrace, but buying an expresso for €2 will do. There is an inside restaurant too, which also makes it a good spot for chillier days!
