This bar is by far the one with the most unusual atmosphere in Podgorica. It is actually an amateur radio, which also happens to be a bar. What makes it so unique is the laid back vibe of the place, which attracts very vibrant and artsy locals.
Dogs roam freely through the cafe (they are lovely, don’t worry), which besides the bar area on the main floor has a basement. Down in the basement is the most relaxed area, with sofas and armchairs, which create a very homelike setting. There is also a stage there, where mostly underground rock bands have concerts.
The music which is played in the bar comes from the amateur radio itself. Besides jazz, blues and soft rock tunes (and many other genres), you will hear various cultural programs which promote and foster the alternative cultural scene of Montenegro. Tune in to 107.9 FM.
If you are a lone tourist or a local in need of a meaningful chitchat, just start a conversation with any of the locals that hang out either out in front front or at the bar. Trust me, it will certainly be an experience to talk about. Many artistic and interesting folks gather there.
For me personally, Radio Club Skadar has always been a safe haven in downtown Podgorica, where one can truly be oneself and enjoy the really peculiar atmosphere of this bar.
