As far as I can remember, Bugo Art Burger was the first restaurant to cook special burgers in Porto. And they were right, as now there are several other burger houses – good ones, actually! – but Bugo still has that twist.

It’s located in one end of Rua Miguel Bombarda, the main art street in Porto, and their burgers are a kind of art, hence the name… They mix the urban concept of the burger in bread with some traditional though updated flavours of Portuguese cuisine and culture. Here, you can try the burger with Azorean cheese, or “Serra” cheese (very creamy, from the mountains), or sauce with Port wine, among others. I prefer these last two, although I try not to repeat a lot when I go there. Then you have the delicious side dishes, and for me, the most original and tasty one is the roasted (real) potatoes with rosemary and olive oil.

At dinner, they have special burgers (and somewhat stranger ones?) such as the one with mango chutney, “oriental” (and yes, it’s edible with chopsticks), Brazilian style, Salmon (with Port wine caviar!), tuna (oriental inspired), and so on, with some more sophisticated siders as different risottos, potatoes “milles feuilles”. Never tried them, though, but I’m very curious and have to go there soon.

The homemade desserts are delicious too! If it’s sunny, it’s just stay outside, and enjoy the calm, pedestrian part of the street. Enjoy!
