You know love at first visit? It happened to me with Duas de Letra. It made it to the top of my preferences in no time.
It’s a bar, a cafeteria and an art gallery meshed up into a delectable place to enjoy at any time of the day.
The front room looks over Jardim de São Lázaro (the oldest municipal garden in Porto) and the atmosphere lures you into a contemplative, melancholic mood. It’s homey, relaxed and eclectic in taste – a fusion between urban and traditional.
But there’s more to discover at Duas de Letra: There’s a beautiful patio in the back where you can enjoy the natural light while munching on one of the delicious toasts made with regional bread. Upstairs, a larger room to fit bigger groups, an arts & crafts boutique and the actual art gallery that also serves as a ‘chameleon’ space where small concerts, workshops, film screenings and debates occur sporadically.
Duas de Letra is perfect for a light meal, accompanied by a nice chill-out tune and a good read. It’s the ideal choice for brunch, a mid-afternoon snack, or just a cup of tea. The menu offers light dishes that use the freshest ingredients and keep the best genuine flavors while giving them a contemporary twist.
This is a place to stay in, to take long, to ‘dar Duas de Letra’ (a Portuguese expression that refers to a casual, informal conversation). Mandatory visit, in my books!
