Mercearia do Miguel is a new spot in town, but quickly gathered a legion of fans making this spot a popular meeting point. This place was an old, typical grocery shop, gorgeously rebuilt by the current owners, who knew how to maintain that neighborhood traditional feeling, selling fresh fruits and lettuces, a nice selection of wines, cheeses and much more.
Do not be mislead by the name, as it is still a traditional shop, but the new owners broadened the concept and now we come here either for their breakfast options (açaí and granola are a popular choice) with fresh juices including a detox, but also for their snack combinations with a glass of wine. The crostinis or bruschettas are usually my pick, but the smell of the homemade quiche and baked cakes always make me rethink my choice.
I love to go there with friends to catch up especially on weekend mornings to start a day with a delicious meal and an all day long breathtaking view, with the emblematic tram passing by from time to time and enlightening the experience.
So, if you’re walking or biking by the riverside, from Ribeira to Foz, or if you’re around Foz for a stroll consider a pit stop in this friendly and cozy place. Be prepared to be welcomed with a huge and honest smile by the owners!
