This is a very special place for me. Since I don’t live in the city centre, I have to take a train to Porto every day. When I arrive this is the first view of Porto I have and the last one when I leave.
Via da Misericórdia offers a beautiful panoramic view of Porto, right next to the best hotel in the area: The Yeatman. Different from the most procured viewpoint of the city (Jardim do Morro), this one doesn’t have a lot of tourists. Truth be told, it usually doesn’t have a lot of people at all since the hotel is the only big reference point of the area. But the view is more than worth it! You can see the Luis I bridge and part of the Cristal Gardens, so it’s really an improvement from Jardim do Morro.
You can find this spot in General Torres (it has a metro and train station) and to get there you have three options: you walk. It’s not that far away, and the best way to get to know a city is by walking. Or you take the metro. This is probably the easiest one; you just have to get on the yellow line. Last option, you take the train. The view until General Torres is beautiful and different because you go until Campanhã by the river.
Lastly, if you’re on a splurge just finish with a coffee at The Yeatman’s bar and relax with that stunning view.
