I live in a Prague neighborhood called Nusle which is situated in the broader city centre. It used to be mainly a worker’s area and did not have a great reputation unlike other parts of Prague. Nevertheless times change. Nusle still have its specifics, but you cannot stop gentrification.
What I have been missing from here was a place with good coffee. Finally, a couple of months ago, a nice coffee place called Dhaba Cafe opened on one of the main streets. It is operated by Beas – the chain of vegetarian Indian self-service restaurants. The decor of Dhaba Cafe is cozy and nice, including comfy sofas with a view on the bustling street.
I often go there with my daughter – she gets a tasty mango lassi and I get a flat white 🙂 For kids, they will provide you some coloring pictures and crayons if you ask. For me it is also the closest place where I can sometimes have a work meeting or where I can go with my laptop if I do not want to work at home.
Besides drinks, you can get some snacks and sweets there (including raw ones). And if you would like to have a proper (veggie) lunch or dinner, you can simply walk a few steps to the courtyard, where there is one of the Beas branches mentioned above.
