A tranquil place with an interesting history, the vast rocky area of Dívčí hrady is a great choice if you feel like getting out of the busy downtown for a while. The massive hill offers a spectacular view of Prague (one you won’t find at any of the promo pictures) along with muted sounds of the city…
Stretching above Prokopské údolí, Dívčí hrady are accessible either from the bus stop Hlubočepská or tram stop Zlíchov. It is a steep walk up the hill but the view is worth it. A lovely place for a picnic or a proper trip.
By the cliffs there is also one of the best-guarded military areas in the Czech republic. No-one really knows what its purpose is. It is only known that the hills are drilled through with a number of corridors. Allegedly there used to be a secret Nazi bomb-research center while later the communists used the space for storage of explosives. See what you can find…
If you find yourself at the very other side of the city and would love to get some stunning views, don’t despair and visit Baba, instead (check the Baba article)!
