Dox – Centre for Contemporary Art

For me Dox is a shrine of contemporary art. I definitely recommend you check out their website to see the current exhibitions. Since Dox is large, there are always several exhibitions at the same time, so everybody can find something they like.

There is also a nice cafe, where I love to renew my energy with a cup of coffee. Worth mentioning is a store in Dox called -Dox by Qubus- where they sell a variety of wonderful books with an artistic theme as well as glass, porcelain and jewelry made by our leading designers. What I love is their guided tours (available also in English), since sometimes it can be refreshing to get more insider information about the exhibition.

Now there is an interesting exhibition which I saw here recently called: THIS PLACE. That one’s definitely worth seeing, an exhibition by photographer Frédéric Brenner, who believes that only through the eyes of great artists can we begin to understand the complexities of Israel. I really enjoy the way exhibitions are curated in Dox. There are no limits to the use of different artistic techniques and other creativity as there might be in some of the more traditional galleries.

The Gallery is located in Holešovice, which belongs to the industrial developing districts, where interesting things are happening at the moment and various new cafés and bars have opened. The gallery is easily accessible – it takes a few minutes by tram (12,14,24) from the city Centre to the tram station Ortenovo Náměstí.
