Where to enjoy your Czech beer this summer? To find the best beer gardens and hidden spots, you need recommendations by locals. Here is a top 7, in random order, of great outdoor bars in Prague, spotted by our Prague locals.
1. U Budyho (by Adam Zbiejczuk)
U Budyho (pictured above) is really an inside tip – you won’t find any tourists here. They have our beer connaisseur Spotter Adam’s favorite beer for a very low price. It’s simple (“When you approach it, it looks rather like someone stole a Svijany beer logo and put it on their garden.”), but that’s the charming thing about this beer garden!
2. Cafebar O2 (by Jana Kneschke)
According to our Prague Spotter Jana, this is the most bizarre bar in Prague. It was built out of a former public toilet, and located at an extremely busy location. From the upper terrace you can “look down onto the daily buzz of stressed people, each of them in their own very small enclosures of carefully polished metal boxes on wheels.”

3. Mlýnská kavárna (by Tomáš Jungwirth)
This cafe (pictured above) is located in an old water-mill, in a lovely area Kampa. Prague Spotter Tomáš: “The atmosphere of Mlýnská kavárna is truly charming. Plus there is a pleasant backyard. In the summer though, I prefer to have a beer draught into a plastic cup and go outside to chat at the benches or sit on the grass.”

4. U Kašpárka (by Katerina Vankova)
U Kašpárka (pictured above) is a local pub, outside of the city center, where you experience the real Czech life. It’s one of Prague Spotter Katerina’s favorite place to eat or have a drink. “When it is warm outside, you can also sit on a nice garden, which is my favourite place.”
5. U Vystřelenýho (by Adam Zbiejczuk)
Spotter Adam warns the posh people, non-smokers and wine lovers “this has been a special place for all rock enthusiasts, drunkards, musicians, bohemians since 1993.”. It has a great beer garden, an excellent reason to check out this place!

6. Smetanovo nábřež (by Filip Grimm)
Smetanovo nábřež (pictured above) a bar? Indeed, it’s not, but is a great alternative place to a bar, a place to sit, relax and have a drink by the waterside. Filip “I like to sit down and do my studying there, especially in summer when it’s very hot and there’s a cool breeze by the river. But not many people usually do this.”
7. Dobrá Čajovna (by Veronika Bílá)
If you’re not ready yet to indulge into the beer of Prague, Dobrá Čajovna may be what you’re looking for. It’s a lovely teahouse, with a centrally located terrace. Veronika: “the shadow of the terrace will cool down both your glowing cheeks and your mind.”
