Even though Prague is not the best city for biking, there is a project which tries to change it. It’s a bike sharing project called Rekola.
Rekola bikes are distinctive, especially in their color as they’re painted pink after the refurbishing. I mostly use the Rekola bike, however there is also an option to rent a scooter. There are many bikes and scooters offered in Prague by Rekola and you can check where the nearest one is on the map in your app, it rarely happens that I can’t find any (only when I’m not really in the center and it’s the rush hour when everyone goes to work).
All of the bikes are equipped with a basket, which I appreciate especially when I need to carry my bag with me. Don’t expect high quality bikes as all of them are old and refurbished, but they still work well and so far I haven’t had any serious problems in getting where I needed to go. So if you prefer moving within the city on a bike, Rekola is the right option for you.
Rekola app is available on iOS as well as Android however I rent the bike via their website or SMS.
Unfortunately they don’t offer short-term membership, so the shortest possible is the monthly one which costs 150 CZK. On the other hand, if I compare it with the price for the daily or weekly ticket for public transport it is still pretty affordable.
