When one gets tired of spacious café halls such as Café Kampus or Café Louvre and yet wants to get a nice cup of coffee or a glass of wine downtown, one should head for Standard Cafe – a small and cozy joint.
The place is usually rather crammed and filled with cigarette smoke so enter only if you don’t mind. However, in reward you will be served cheap drinks by compliant waiters and waitresses and enjoy the somewhat creative atmosphere which makes this a great place for informal meetings. In the summer, you can make use of several places out on the sidewalk.
Please do also try the soup of the day, homemade quiche or perhaps the grilled Camembert served with ajvar – I am nearly addicted to it. All in all, this is far above a standard café!
Just keep in mind, it is cash only as are more of the other places in Prague.
