When you think about street art, it is likely that Prishtina doesn’t even cross your mind. Fine, it doesn’t cross my mind either! But there’s no guilt in that, because street art hasn’t really been Prishtina’s ‘thing’ until recently.
With the initiative of Art Development Center – Q’art, a local non-profit organization seeking to promote art in the community, 300 meters of a wall located in a residential area, is now covered by kickass graffiti worth checking out.
Q’art succeeded in becoming the national partner for “International Meeting of Styles” (MOS), an international network of graffiti artists which has had hundreds events in Europe, Asia and the Americas. In May 2017, MOS expanded to Prishtina where the first edition of Meeting of Styles was held. Sixty local and foreign grafitti artists from Europe, Balkans and America, gathered in Rruga B (Street B) to transform a plain wall into a work of art – literally. With no specific theme in mind, artists were free to draw anything they wanted, and they didn’t disappoint!
I truly regret not attending the event when it took place, but I will this year! Due to the success of the first edition, Meeting of Styles Kosovo (2nd edition) will take place from 18 – 20 May 2018!
If you happen to visit during those dates, make sure to swing by… you will be able to take some Insta worthy pictures at least.
