On Valdemāra street right in front of the Art museum you will find a very small but beautiful shop named Abra that is full of useful things. Here you will find the best Latvian products from wine and sweets, to cosmetics and health products. In Latvian “abra” is the name of a wooden oblong dish on which, according to Latvian traditions, brown bread is made and this name matches this shop perfectly.
It is not a secret that we Latvians are very proud of our local small businesses and manufacturers, especially the ones that use locally grown plants and raw materials to make their products. This is also the reason why I like Abra and its main idea to offer food, cosmetics and other products that are characteristic to Latvia and are produced here, in one place. Abra offers a wide range of products we usually recommend to our guests but also use ourselves.
In addition you can also take a rest and drink a cup of locally roasted coffee with traditional waffles here while looking out the window at the beautiful building of the Art museum. Abra has a calm and pleasant atmosphere that makes you want to stay there longer and explore the wide variety of Latvian products on offer. This is the place where even locals can learn something new about our own brands and things we produce here.
